Memoirs of an Internet Dater. #1

Now with my many years of experience with the whole internet dating scene I have made a few observations and I feel it is time to share those with you. Now being on various websites this particular observation is across the board. I do not care what type of “analytics” or “chemistry comparison” any site offers. eHarmony and match.com are no different from your POF or your OkCupid in this one aspect. The one thing that is equal across all dating sites (even the x-rated ones) is……are you ready……..LOOKS!!!! 

Yes I know everyone means well when they say they want people to look past how they look and really see their “personality” but if you aren’t initially attracted to this person at first site typically you will pass on that person and their message without giving it a second thought. Sure there are those who go against the grain and get to know someone in hopes that their personality will exceed their looks. Tell me this have you surfed any sort of online personals and read their full profile or do you go directly to the pictures and see what they look like and try to get a good idea of their personality based on those? Then perhaps you might look at their profile and read their interests and see what they have to say. Internet dating is no different from being any place else (bar, event, wedding, whatever) you look around the room and whoever is the most attractive you will go up to them first or you will want to be introduced. 

Looks are everything and I am not saying that you have to be some sort of super model or chiseled guy. Everyone has different flavors and tastes. I am talking to those who thing that their profile truly means something and that people are truly going to take the time to read the 20 paragraphs of information about yourself no, they are going to look at your pics size you up and then read it (if you are lucky). 

Now all this talk about pictures has me going into my next blog but I will save that for later!
